A great example of sustainable living: a 2.5ha (6 acres) "living roof" on top of the Vancouver Convention Centre that recreates the British Columbia grassland and habitat. The project's landscape architect Bruce Hemstock talks about the rooftop grassland in this video.

Read about the Vancouver Convention Centre's green design and features here and a fascinating article at Co.Design about designing buildings like "land-use sandwiches" so they serve multiple uses and contribute to the economic, social and environmental diversity of cities.

A useful article on catering your business to women, who control 65 percent of global spending and more than 80 percent of US spending. The piece is by Susan Fabry, a senior design strategist at Continuum and the leader of Continuum's Women & Children Group. Continuum is a company that focuses on innovation design.
