One reason why your medical bills are going up: Pharmaceutical companies have not only been wooing doctors with gifts, bribes, and incentives, but also been paying doctors vast amounts of dollars to promote certain products. And medics are grabbing the offers. That's why you are prescribed expensive drugs rather than cheaper generics. No wonder it's possible for drug prices to go up as much as 8 per cent a year.
The cosy relationship between doctors and pharmaceutical companies is nothing really new of course, but this infographic from medicalbillingandcoding.org recreates in a great visual way those unhealthy ties.
